FAQs
What makes this steamer different from the 2-tier version?
The big advantage here is flexibility. This 18-inch steamer comes with three stackable tiers instead of two, which means even more cooking capacity for clambakes, crab boils, or lobster feasts. You can steam different types of seafood and sides at once, layering slower-cooking items on the bottom and quicker foods like corn or mussels on top.
How easy is it to drain after cooking?
Super easy. The water pan includes a Tomlinson faucet spigot, so you can drain hot liquid safely without having to tilt or lift the whole pot. The best part? You can save the broth from your clams and use it as a flavorful seafood stock for soups, chowders, or pasta.
Can I add more tiers if I need them?
Yes. That’s one of the smartest design features of this pot. You can purchase additional tiers and simply stack them on top, expanding the steamer’s capacity whenever you’re cooking for a bigger crowd.
Does it cook evenly?
Absolutely. Each basket has large 7/8-inch perforations that let steam circulate freely. This ensures even cooking across all tiers so your clams, lobster, corn, and potatoes all come out perfectly tender.
Is it built for heavy-duty use?
You bet. Manufactured by Town Food Service Equipment Company, this steamer is made from heavy-duty aluminum with sturdy handles and a tight-fitting domed lid. Each basket also has its own set of side handles for safe and easy carrying, even when cooking large batches.
What events is this best for?
This pot is a staple for clambakes, lobster boils, crab feasts, and backyard seafood parties. But it’s versatile enough for tamales, vegetables, or anything else you want to steam in large quantities. It’s the kind of pot that earns its keep at family gatherings, community events, or restaurant use.
Why choose the 3-tier with spigot?
Because it’s the ultimate in both capacity and convenience. You get more room to cook, a safe and easy drainage system, and the option to grow with add-on tiers. It’s built tough, cooks evenly, and makes hosting seafood feasts way less stressful.
